Both Nintendo and Microsoft have announced that the beloved and classic GoldenEye 007 is arriving this week on both Nintendo Switch Online and Xbox Game Pass on January 27. I assume we’ll hear more later today during the Xbox & Bethesda Developer_Direct but it is nice seeing both companies get the information out early.
In 1997, Rare worked on GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64, serving as an adaption of the James Bond film.
Nintendo Switch will have GoldenEye 007 available via Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack as part of the N64 library. It’ll be the same game from your childhood but with the added inclusion of online multiplayer.
On Xbox, it’ll be a bit different as GoldenEye 007 will be on GamePass along with being a freebie for owners of the Rare Replay Collection. There is a downside here though as there isn’t any online multiplayer available. On the positive side, this version is an upgraded version that will add achievements, new control options, 16:9 resolution, and 4K visuals.
We’ve known that GoldenEye 007 has been in the works for a while now, given the game’s achievements leaked last year.
