It has been a busy last couple of days for game announcements, but gaming isn’t slowing down one bit as Steam Next Fest is happening this week, and Humble Games, which showcased some of its upcoming titles over the Summer Game Fest weekend, will be part of Steam Next Fest’s demo week.
It’s been about four months since the last Steam Next Fest, and similarly to February, in this much hotter month, we’ll be detailing three specific games that Humble Games is planning to release. Two of these are officially slated to launch this year. Through each listed game, Humble Games’ three offerings deliver something unique that players of different tastes will probably speak to. These games range from an action-adventure platformer to a detective mystery adventure to a Hades-like roguelike.
Now, let’s dive into each Humble Games title, what players can expect, the expected launch, and the platforms it will be available on.
Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus
Release Date: July 17th
First up is Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus from developer Squid Shock Studios, a colourful, hand-drawn 2.5D action platformer inspired by Japanese folklore. Players will explore a mysterious world of myth and legend while fulfilling an ancient prophecy as the titular Bō, a lotus fox Tentaihana, a genderless and original type fox yokai made for the game. As Bō, players will wield their staff to traverse through levels, using it to bounce off obstacles and glide across the screen through the game’s airdash ability.
The Humble Games-published game has Hollow Knight vibes but with a much more colourful presentation and style that feels inspired by some specific Vanillaware games in this specific genre. While the game is slated to launch on PC, console players won’t be left out as Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is also coming to PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch on July 17th, just around the corner. But for those on PC, you can now download the Steam demo for the rest of the week.
On Your Tail
Release Window: TBA 2024
Next is On Your Tail, a third-person story-driven adventure game where players will play as the game’s anthropomorphic protagonist, Diana. While pursuing the “perfect” summer vacation, Diana finds herself in the charming seaside village of Borgo Marina. Still, things aren’t as peaceful as they seem. Diana uncovers the town’s very puzzling local mysteries while an unknown masked thief watches from a distance.
During an investigation, players will discover secrets outside the town, shops, and other buildings. They collect evidence from characters, locations, and events through investigation, interrogation, and deduction to reveal the thief’s recent identity disturbing Borgo Marina. To help you, Diana must build a meaningful relationship with the town’s villagers by giving them some help with their problems, which will lead to conversations that will help you learn new clues, which may be the extra edge Diana needs to blow open this case.
On Your Tail is coming to PC, and as a console exclusive on Nintendo Switch, which Humble Games is set to launch sometime this year, you can check out the demo on Steam this week to play a portion of the game early.
Wizard of Legend 2
Release Window: TBA 202?
Our final Humble Games published title is Wizard of Legend 2, a fast-paced rogue-lite game with a 3D visual perspective that Hades players will be familiar with. The difference, though, is that Wizard of Legend 2 features a four-player online co-op mode that will let you band together with friends to take on and defeat enemies in your way through your Arcana abilities, including elemental magic like fire, water, and lightning alongside other skills that players will indeed discover along the way.
Being a roguelite, dying in-game is not the end of the journey but only really the beginning. The option to upgrade your abilities will open up to players in the next run, giving them a better chance and getting your revenge on your enemies in the game while building the perfect character for your playstyle. Wizard of Legend 2 is coming to PC; although no release date or window has been announced, you can try the single-player-only demo on Steam. Download this demo and the other Humble Games titles above before Steam Next Fest ends on June 17th.
