Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Release Date Announced, Launching on September 19 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series

Following last week’s tease, Capcom officially announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which will launch digitally on September 19th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. A physical edition is slated to be released later, coming sometime in November

While labelled with the “Remaster” name, developer Rysosuke Murai says, “It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call this game a remake.” Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is being developed in the RE Engine and runs with improved modern-looking graphics and updated character models in 4K at 60 FPS. Some other enhancements to the original game include real-time lighting and shadow effects, more intuitive and user-friendly controls, improved NPC behaviour, and a new fine-tuned user interface.

Additionally, players control protagonist Frank West, who can now aim while moving, an autosaving feature (manual saves are also an option), a photo mode, and full voice dialogue in the story across nine other languages. Sadly, the original Frank West voice actor won’t be reprising his role in this “Deluxe Remaster” due to him not getting the call from Capcom via Comicbook.com.

It’s been almost eighteen years since the original Dead Rising was released on Xbox 360, but the franchise has been weirdly quiet. The last major release of the franchise was the first remaster of the original Dead Rising and Dead Rising 4, launching in 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms. Although Capcom has been silent for eight years, it’s good to see the series is still alive and well.

Hopefully, the 2024 Dead Rising release will lead to an actual Dead Rising 5. According to game journalist Liam Robertson on Twitter, the game was previously developed between 2016 and 2018 but was cancelled, leading to the closure of developer Capcom Vancouver.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will launch on September 19th on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The second “remaster” release will cost  $49.99 for the standard edition and $59.99 for the deluxe edition, with additional costume and background music packs. “Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Deluxe Edition,” you read that right.
