Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Announced, Out This October

Activision and Infinity Ward revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and the series heads to Korea as its next destination.

After war erupts on the Korean Peninsula and North Korea kicks off a worldwide global conflict meant to destabilize the world, Modern Warfare 4 introduces a new team of soldiers you’ll play as. A squad of young Korean soldiers is fighting off an invasion while Captain Price returns to wage a personal war from the shadows.

Infinity War returns after the abysmal Modern Warfare 3 left players disappointed, and this time they’re back with a clearer vision of what they want to do. With a darker campaign, players can expect trench warfare in Korea and close encounters in New York. chases in Paris, and SAS night raids in Mumbai.

You’ll play as Private Park, a South Korean soldier dealing with live combat for the first time with his squad. During a routine patrol, North Korea invades, and your team must quickly work on countermeasures to stop the enemy.

Captain Price returns, and this time he’s working outside the system. He’s on a hunt for revenge and looking to find a way to shift the balance of power.

Multiplayer has been retooled, and for the first time, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are no longer being supported for the yearly release.  Modern Warfare 4 introduces Ballistic Authority, a new technology made for precise aiming, physical handling, realistic audio propagation, enhanced visibility, and smarter combat perception.

This means your stance, camera, audio, FOV and visibility line up to deliver a tuned experience. And Infinity Ward promises no bloom, making your shots count rather than leaving them to luck.

Bloom is gone, making hipfire shots more direct and predictable when the weapon is pointed. Recoil, weapon handling and convergence matter as they’ve been rebuilt for this year. Plus, depth of field and visual effects are refined to offer better enemy visibility. Weapons also respond naturally to player movement, stance changes, and the environment, creating consistent behaviour.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch with 12 core maps, each featuring a custom infil and a distinct identity, forming the foundation of this year’s multiplayer. Players can also expect Kill Block, a live-fire training facility built for operators, offering a fresh experience. Gunfight and Big War maps are expected and built for large-scale vehicle and infantry combat.

Progress and customization have been reworked, making it easier to get started. The redesigned create-a-class unifies Operators, weapons, equipment, and killstreaks into a single loadout.

Gunsmith returns with deeper customization options while staying approachable for players. Attachments are now shared by weapon class. New to Modern Warfare 4, Gunny brings a Gunnery Sergeant’s eye to weapon customization, helping players quickly assemble effective builds based on their preferred playstyle and unlocked attachments.

The big new addition this year is Apex Attachments. These are specialized unlocks earned by using weapons and introduce unique modifiers for combat, changing the way weapons behave in combat. Depending on the attachment, you can alter handling, firing behaviour, stealth capability, and more. There are new weapons, equipment, and killstreaks available at launch, along with lots of Prestige levels to look forward to.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC on October 23, 2026.
