Publisher CULT Games and developer White Owls Inc. have announced that their upcoming game, Hotel Barcelona, is slated for a September 2025 release. Described as a surreal, blood-soaked sidescrolling roguelite, Hotel Barcelona is from the minds of SUDA51 (No More Heroes, Lollipop Chainsaw) and SWERY (Deadly Premonition).
Hotel Barcelona will see players play as Justine, a rookie U.S. Marshal, but while on the road on a routine case gets into an accident and gets Isekai-ed into another world, Hotel Barcelona. This isn’t a wholesome feel-good world that our heroine finds herself in, but something much more twisted and horrific than you’re average “transported to another world” story. With a sword in hand, Justine wakes up with a serial killer in her head while going through 2.5D levels as she dies over and over again with her past selves, “like a ghost with a grudge,” fighting by her side
“Trapped in a twisted hotel inspired by iconic horror movie subgenres, you must fight, die, die again, and maybe – just maybe – defeat the Seven Slasher Killers out for blood. The news of Hotel Barcelona‘s release comes a little over a week before BitSummit The 13th: Summer of Yōkai, Japan’s largest indie game festival. Anyone attending the event from July 18th through the 20th will be able to try out a demo of the game’s opening section, including its first baseball-obsessed boss, Jacob. White Owls’s developers, alongside the game’s director, Hidetaka “SWERY” Suehiro, will be at Bit Summit for players to meet.
Hotel Barcelona sis et to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S sometime this September.
