Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is doing well after selling three million copies in 24 hours.
It is a sequel to the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series, Sparking! Zero launched last week in Early Access before officially landing in stores and online on October 11.
SteamDB, a third-party site tracking Steam’s database, including player counts, revealed Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero has seen 122,554 all-time peak players online, the most significant launch for the famous manga. In the last 24 hours, over 83,313 people were playing.
Comparably, Arc System Work’s Dragon Ball FighterZ hit an all-time high of 44,303 players almost seven years ago – less than half of what Sparking! Zero is currently seeing.
In our review for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, we said that it “is a fantastic return for a beloved series. The roster is massive, and the action is loud and satisfying, with enough modes to keep any fan busy. While not everything is finely tuned or balanced, it retains the heart and energy of the anime and the original games. Some things, like the overall flow between fights and menus, need work. It may not be for everyone, with the campaign difficulty and lack of overall balance enough to turn some away, but I’m having an absolute blast with Sparking! Zero because it is a dream come true.”
