Turn 10 Studios

Turn 10 Studios Is Now Playground Games Redmond

Per The Verge, Turn 10 Studios has merged with Playground Games. It was reported last month that Turn 10 would join the team based out of Leamington Spa.

It was also revealed that Dan Greenawalt, the VP and Studio Head at Turn 10 is retiring after 27 years. “Dan Greenawalt has decided that this is the right time for him to retire from Microsoft,” said Playground Games studio head Trevor Williams. “It’s hard to overstate Dan’s impact over the past 27 years. From shipping Project Gotham Racing on the original Xbox in 2001 to leading the creation of Forza, founding Turn 10 Studios and appearing so many times on our E3 stage, usually making a dramatic entrance with a supercar in tow.”

“On behalf of both teams, I would like to thank Dan for his leadership, his support, and his partnership. I wish him well for whatever comes next.”

It remains to be seen what happens to Forza Motorsport. Turn 10 lost around 70 people to layoffs last year and it took a good chunk of the studio with it. The series’ last entry was in 2023 where it didn’t exactly make waves. It’s been quiet on the Forza Motorsport front since with very little in terms of news. It may be a long time before we hear anything new regarding the racing sim series.
