The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Will Launch May 2023

All right, I’m going to level with you all.

The moment Nintendo revealed the title for the sophomore story in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was pretty ironic for me. Because as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was unveiled, I was shedding a few tears of my own, and holding on to my wedding ring, which is “Master Sword Blue” tungsten engraved with a gold Triforce.

In a minute-and-a-half-long trailer, we get a story of the sealing of Calamity Gannon told in Zonai cave paintings, followed by Link opening two very large stone doors on a Hyrule that now includes several tears in its landscapes.

It also confirms that Hyrule Castle is in chaos once more, as it’s now floating above tendrils of malice.

Link appears to be aided in his journey through the skies by a very large stone bird that possibly draws influence from Horizon Forbidden West‘s Sunwing… I can’t be the only one that sees this, right?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will fly the aforementioned stone bird — and Link — onto the Switch on May 12th, 2023
