NIS America revealed a new trailer today for the upcoming RPG Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. Once again Adol Christin embarks on an exciting adventure to a new land, and a usual, the unexpected happens as Adol is cursed and left stranded. The city of Balduq hides more than just a few secrets.
Renowned adventurer Adol “the Red” Christin and his companion Dogi arrive at Balduq, a city annexed by the Romun Empire, only for Adol to be detained before setting foot inside. While imprisoned, he meets a mysterious woman named Aprilis who turns him into a Monstrum, a being with supernatural Gifts and the power to exorcise monsters. Now, Adol must ally with his fellow Monstrum to fend off the fearsome threats emerging from a shadowy dimension called the Grimwald Nox, as well as unravel the mysteries of the Monstrum curse, and the truth behind the unrest within Balduq.
Hopefully, the sequel to Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana fares better as I did enjoy the game but felt the mp and the mechanics dumbed down the experience. I miss the older titles like Oath in Felghana, which combined the perfect mix of story, combat, and stellar music.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox launches February 2, 2021 on PlayStation 4 with Switch and PC coming in Summer 2021.
