Well looks like we finally have our first official look at Yakuza 8, the upcoming sequel to Yakuza: Like a Dragon which reveals some of the game’s returning characters including Koichi Adachi, Yu Nanba, and the game’s protagonist Ichiban Kasuga who seemingly in this entry is seen without his iconic afro and instead is seen in a ponytail.
The Yakuza 8 images were shared through a slightly blurry off-screen clip of the game out of context in an official behind-the-scenes tour of Sega’s development offices from YouTuber MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura. The tour was conducted by Sega president Haruki Satomi and later on by Ryu Ga Gotoku’s studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama who during the tour of the Yakuza developer casually confirmed Yakuza 8 would continue Like a Dragon’s story and is set a few years after the 2020 game, As of right now no other character returns were confirmed.

In response to the image of the game, Famitsu reported that the upcoming Yakuza 8 will be set in a brand new town which will feature the YouTuber himself as a character. The Yakuza: Like a Dragon followup was confirmed to be in development back in November following Yakuza Creator Toshihiro Nagoshi stepping down as CCO and later on forming his own studio.
