Toronto’s XP Gaming Inc, which bills itself as Canada’s premier business-to-business video game conference, is announcing its fourth annual XP Game Developer Summit will take place April 20 & 21st, 2023, at their home city’s Westin Harbour Castle.
This conference is one for game developers, creatives, business people, and venture capitalists.
This year’s event primarily offers B2B networking with XP’s Canadian partners: Ubisoft, Behaviour Interactive, AMD, Amazon AWS, Gameloft, and Certain Affinity.
Ubisoft appears to be XP’s top supporter as the studio is pledging to have a cohort on hand to speak with developers, join in panels, and introduce winners from their Ubisoft Indie Series; the annual competition for independent game development studios with cash prizes, mentorship, and tools.
“We have a thriving and dynamic industry around us, and the XP Game Developer Summit is a testament to that,” said Julien Lavoie, director of corporate affairs at Ubisoft. “As Canada’s largest B2B video game conference, it’s a key moment for us to come together as an industry to share our expertise, while also showcasing the leadership, innovation, and creativity of studios and developers in Canada to the world.”
XP has also enlisted the help of networking event organizer MeetToMatch to make sure that networking goes smoothly — something we can all use in the world where in-person meetings and networking are a thing again.
There’s also a growing list of business-focused panels happening with a number of global speakers involved.
There are also a number of side events hosted by groups that will be at XP Game Developer Summit. The Level Up Showcase takes place on April 19th, featuring games and demos designed by post-secondary students from across Ontario. On April 20th, Interactive Ontario hosts the IO Connect Evening Networking Mixer for Interactive Ontario members, select XP pass holders, and special guests. And finally, the Canadian Game Awards will celebrate Canada’s spot on the world stage as a leader in interactive entertainment on April 20-21st.
