Xbox experienced a widespread network outage that began late last night, and services are still dealing with issues as of writing with Microsoft via its Xbox Support team confirming the issues.
Xbox users are struggling to sign-in into their account, finding games oddly missing from the storefront, being disconnected, access their game libraries, or even launching games, which isn’t exclusive to just digital editions but physical games too, have been affected by the outage. The outage is impacting Xbox players around the world with no estimated time on when these issues will be resolved, but Xbox Support in an update says its engineer team is working on it.
“Just checking in on the game library, sign-in, and game launch issue. We know this has been going on a while and appreciate your patience while our teams keep working on it,” Xbox Support wrote in a Twitter post.
The outage follows PlayStation going through its own outage last week, during which I struggled to stay online and logged in, on my account for several hours; just as I was doing my gacha dailies, no less. The timing of the outage is a little too coincidental as it came after PlayStation announced its plan to abandon the physical market with new releases starting in January 2028 as the console manufacturer is in favour embracing an all-digital future for PlayStation 5 consoles and assumedly whatever hardware comes beyond.
This has led to some of its users protesting the decision, and has only gotten louder since then with reporting that internally Sony is pretty strict on never acknowledging the messaging from its consumers, according to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb on today’s Game Mess Mornings.
