Xbox Asus ROG Ally 2 Project Kennan

The Fabled Xbox Handheld, Project Kennan, Has Leaked Online

Alongside a first look at the ROG Ally 2

New Asus ROG Ally 2 photos have appeared online, and there’s not just one variant, but two. One is a white handheld, while the other is an Xbox-branded black version currently known as Project Kennan.

Per Eurogamer via Videocardz, the leak is from the US FCC’s official certification of the hardware, called “Project Kennan,” and is expected to be unveiled soon.

If I were to guess when we should expect the first look at Project Kennan, June seems likely, as it falls during the yearly showcase Xbox holds in Los Angeles.

It’s still too early to tell what specs are powering the handheld or how integrated the Xbox ecosystem will truly be. Above, the device shares the same aesthetic as the ROG Ally, except it has a built-in Xbox button on the left side and the same button placement as an Xbox controller.

The FCC listing includes some specs for the upcoming hardware, including a 7-inch, 120Hz LCD display with an 8-core, 36w AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme CPU included in the Xbox edition, and a 4-core, 20w chip in the white version.

At a time when Xbox has just raised prices for all hardware and first-party games as we advance, it remains to be seen how expensive Project Kennan will be at launch.

Last month, Xbox and Asus teased a collaboration but didn’t dive into the details. We know it will combine the Xbox and PC experiences into a handheld.
