This morning, the American publisher announced that going forward “all new games published by Microsoft Studios will be released into Xbox Game Pass on the same date as their global release.” This is huge!
If you’re looking to get your money’s worth as a gamer, the Xbox Game Pass is catered to you. With two major releases coming to the Xbox One in the next few months, including Sea of Thieves on March 20, and State of Decay 2, you can effectively play the latest and greatest for one set price.
“This plan to bring new games timed with their global release into Xbox Game Pass not only includes announced titles like Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3 but future unannounced games from Microsoft Studios including new iterations of our biggest Xbox One exclusive franchises such as Halo, Forza and Gears of War, on the same day they launch.”
Game Pass is a service similar to Netflix, for a price, you gain access to a number of titles – over 100 if you watch the video, with publisher Capcom, WB, 2K and more on board with Microsoft.
Nintendo and Sony might want to think about something similar, if the feedback if anything to go on, it’s a success with gamers, and allows them more access to titles they may have otherwise not had the chance to play at all. You can play new releases for a fraction of their cost, and in Canada where the pricing for games is absurd, I can see this taking off.
