Publisher DotEmu and developer Lizardcube recently announced that Wonder Boy: Dragon’s Trap will release on PC, through the Steam store.
After a successful re-release on the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One earlier this year, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap will make its PC debut. Described by developers as a “love-child between Mario, Metroid and Zelda”, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is a non-stop action adventure accompanied by the beautiful sound track of the original. The story follows a lonesome adventure who is cursed by the Meka-Dragon and determined to undo the curse that turned him into a half-lizard, half-human. Throughout the story players will explore the traps set in the Monster Land by defeating enemies, like curse-wielding dragons. To help players along their way they will have access to six different forms of shape-shifting including a Lizard, a Mouse, a Piranha, a Lion, and a Hawk.
DotEmu is known for filling the nostalgia void of gamers by re-releasing retro titles, and their partnership with Lizardcube will now bring the 1989 Sega title back to fans. Originally the game was created by Westone and to bring the authentic feel back from the original to the remake, DotEmu worked closely with some of the members of Westone. Not only does the title bring back everything fans loved about the classic but also a wider range of difficulty, a playable co-star named “Hu-Girl”, various types of dragons (like a mummy and zombie dragon) and lots more!
Wonder Boy: Dragon’s Trap is available on June 8th for PC for $19.99 U.S.
