Looking for something a little less intense in your gaming life? Maybe a cozy adventure or quieter, simpler trek through the woods is your speed this summer. Well, look no further than Wholesome Direct 2023.
Wholesome Games has been at the forefront of (mostly) indie titles with that look and feel for the last several years. Since Covid-19 hit the world, many gamers have yearned for a lighter and more friendly experience behind their TVs and monitors. Much like Nintendo’s Direct videos, Wholesome Direct will premiere a number of titles. This year’s will be streamed on June 10th at 9am PT/12pm EST/6pm CET.
The full list of titles hasn’t been announced just yet, but one studio says it will be happy to share its new game and some “exciting news.” SomeHumbleOnion says:
Smushi Come Home is a cozy exploration adventure game where you play as a tiny mushroom who’s trying to get back home…
You must journey through different areas of the forest and find your way back with the help of your new tools and fellow forest creatures!
Quiet and easy-going games like this are up my alley for sure. But if you haven’t heard of a Wholesome Direct and aren’t sure what to expect, here’s a short list of the wide variety of games that were included in last year’s Wholesome Direct:
- Terra Nil
- Lumbearjack
- Coffee Talk: Episode 2
- Ooblets
- SkateBird
- SCHiM
- Lil’ Gator Game
And over a dozen more. Expect the same, if not more when the 2023 edition hits the digital Twitch and YouTube airways on June 10th. If you’re like me, it’ll be the perfect palette cleanse in a month that’s likely going to be filled with a ton of Diablo 4 demon slaying.
