Where Winds Meet is about to go through the winds of change. In what developer Everstone has described as “Wuxia new era” and “Where Winds Meet 2.0,” the free-to-play game will launch its “Hidden Mountain” expansion on July 23.
A striking new “Eastern Steampunk” aesthetic, full of machines and automatons, will grace this new world.
The mountain’s hidden Mohist sect is a group of ancient and legendary masters of ingenious engineering, who have filled the mountain home with these creations seemingly of the imagination only.
Dungeon crawling will give way to dungeon climbing, as maps adopt a verticality for you to explore across a mountain featuring underwater depths, underground palaces, towering peaks, and floating sky cities.
In order to reach these heights and find the Mohist int their city in the sky, players will have to master new DIY mechanical crafting and custom vehicle assembly skills that allow players to solve puzzles on their own using the lightness skill, climbing, gliding and all-new mechanical vehicles of your creation.
Along the way, there are new boss battles to keep you grounded. Some of these will reportedly require solving environmental puzzles mid-fight.
Finally, you’ve been asking for it: a “Gauntlet Discipline” for fighting is coming in “Hidden Mountain.”
This rough fist-to-flesh discipline will allows players to engage in ultra-close-quarters combat, functioning as a fast defence-breaker, rather than a slow solo-hit tool. Execute lightning-fast combos and deliver devastating instant-burst damage to shatter your enemies’ defences.
Finally, “Hidden Mountain” will mark the beginning of the next generation of Where Winds Meet — as the game will receive a graphical and auditory boost to help with life on the mountain.
Optimized wind dynamics create layered harmonies, as gales sweep through mountain canyons and past the buildings and contraptions.
Overhauled rock textures found all across the mountain vividly depict the natural traces of wind, water, and time — making this feel like a real place.
