When Is A 4K TV A Good Choice For Gamers?

Gamers are always on the lookout for ways to enhance their gaming experience. For some, it is all about the games and for others the console. But, for most, it’s about the TV. The right TV will take gaming to a whole new level as long as it is the right choice. At the moment, the 4K model is making a lot of noise as more and more gamers turn to it for a better experience. But, is the 4K always the best choice? Or are there caveats that need addressing? Carry on reading to find out more.

If You Game On Your PC

The truth is that consoles like Xbox One and PlayStation 4 can’t play 4k games as they don’t have the technology as yet. That means that PCs are still the only gaming consoles that can play them. So, if you don’t use your PC for gaming, there is no point in investing in a 4K TV. It’s like having a 4g phone if the area you live in isn’t 4g capable. If you’re considering a 4K but don’t use your PC, go for a cheaper model instead.

If Your PC Is Powerful

The next factor to consider is the power of your PC. Increasing the resolution to 4K graphics puts a lot of strain on your PC’s graphics card. As a result, a lesser computer won’t be able to handle the transition. Check your computer for its specifications to see whether it’s up to the job. If it isn’t, you can always upgrade to a bigger graphics card and increase the RAM. That should ensure that the 4K monitor doesn’t slow down your gaming sessions too much.

When You Buy New And Not Old

Sometimes, buying an older model can give you everything you need in a TV. However, in this case, the 4K TV doesn’t follow that pattern. The older models use an older HDMI connection (1.4), which averages at 3,840 x 2,160 at 30 frames per second. Now, that isn’t too bad. In fact, there are some TVs that still use this specification to this day. But, serious gamers are used to a lot better. Luckily, the newer versions use the 2.0 software that increases the graphics to 60fps. In all truthfulness, the extra money for a new model is worth it for the extra quality.

Viewing Experience

Sitting as close to a 4K TV as possible should be as good as viewing it through an Oculus monitor. The logic behind this is that the screen fills your peripheral vision the closer you sit to the monitor. As the gaming experience goes, this adds a lot of value. The big image immerses you in the game and makes the experience feel ten times better. Sure, there are drawbacks. But, they tend not to outweigh the positives.

Now that you know more about these TVs, you can make an informed decision. For the most part, they are a great choice. But, like everything else in life, they do have negatives that could be a deal breaker.
