Yesterday Capcom announced we’d get a brand new episode of Resident Evil Showcase today at 6 PM ET. It’s been a few months since we’ve had a showcase so it was nice to see some new content today.
Kicking off the 30-minute event was a new look at the upcoming expansion of Resident Evil Village, Winters’ Expansion and in particular the Shadows of Rose story chapter arriving on October 28. It will be available as part of Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, introducing a third-player perspective. Those who pre-order today will receive a Street Wolf Outfit for Rose Winters to wear.
On October 28, those who wish to pick up the DLC without buying the Gold Edition will be able to do so and also try out the multiplayer game Resident Evil Re:Verse.
Speaking of Resident Evil Re:Verse, this multiplayer experience will be available later this month on October 28 and will be free for all owners of Resident Evil Village or Resident Evil Village Gold Edition. Capcom also confirmed this new mode will include crossplay as it revealed new gameplay shown in the trailer below. For those who own Village, you can start to play a few days early on October 24.
Nintendo wasn’t left out in the cold today as Capcom announced Resident Evil Village, RE7, RE2 Remake, and RE3 Remake will land on Switch. There is one caveat though so consider this before deciding on where you’ll be playing these ports — they are all cloud ports.
Resident Evil 2 Cloud will launch on November 11, followed by Resident Evil 3 Cloud on November 18 and Resident Evil 7 biohazard Cloud on December 16.
Lastly, Capcom promised a new look at next year’s Resident Evil 4 Remake and today we got an extended gameplay demo. Yoshiaki Hirabayashi presented a new trailer giving us a look at the opening moments of Leon’s adventure as he looks for the President’s daughter.
Of course, things do not go to plan and Leon is quickly overwhelmed by the locales. His only escape is through a window which is just a scratch on the surface of unexpected moments players will experience next year. Leon brazenly defends against a chainsaw with only a knife so you know things will get crazy.
Paired with the extended gameplay demo was this cinematic featuring Ada, Ashley and some other moments fans will reminisce about.
Resident Evil 4 Remake launches March 24, 2023.
