Virtua Fighter Crossroads is punching above its weight class when it comes to teasing us ahead of a planned 2027 launch.
A number of new videos focusing on in-game elements (narrative, VS battles, character, scenario battles, adventure and story mode) have been added to the Sega YouTube account as part of last month’s June Virtua Fighter Showcase.
We now know that Virtua Fighter Crossroads, true to its name, takes place in the mean streets of the fake Southeast Asian city of Vilaspara, at the very crossroads of a fighter’s journey to fists full of greatness.
Here, fighting is an everyday occurrence, and your life unfolds in what the dev team calls “Crossroads Style” — grounded in real-world inspiration and detail, yet set in a story you’ve never experienced before, unfolding at a grand pace.
Recurring main character Akira has given way to a new kid on the block, Cielo — a spunky, inked young man who is rising in the world… by raising his fists.
While Cielo is the main throughline, it looks like there are four main player characters here, each with their own perspective and story to take you through the whole experience.
Also, if anything, it’s fun to watch these clips and see how RGG Studio is making an actual Virtua Fighter and not Yakuza.
Virtua Fighter Crossroads is currently deep into bulking up and is scheduled to fight in 2027.
