After almost a year of exclusivity on the Oculus, Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series is finally heading to PlayStation VR this summer according to PlayStation and ILMxLAB.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Mark S. Miller, an Executive Creative Producer at ILMxLAB spoke about the game being ported to the PSVR platform later this summer. The series will launch as a complete series with all three episodes and Lightsaber Dojos arriving together in a bundle.
Miller spoke about how the game came to fruition, as the dream began in 2016 with the studio talking about creating a canonical VR series based on Darth Vader, and to tell an original, unique story about one of the most famous villains in the Star Wars universe.
“We pushed ourselves every day to combine high-quality visuals, sound and compelling interactivity in a way not previously attempted or achieved in the VR space.” Says Miller, “To do this, we built a team of folks with varied storytelling backgrounds from film, games, and animation, brought on key collaborators like ClutchPlay, and leveraged Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4. This, along with the help of Writer and Executive Producer David S. Goyer, helped to find our path for the project.”
An extension of the award-winning Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series, the Lightsaber Dojo experience will allow players to train with a lightsaber and the Force against waves of training droids and Star Wars creatures.
