Until Dawn Remaster Announced

At today’s State of Play stream, a Until Dawn remaster was revealed, and it is coming later this year.

Ballistic Moon is handling the remaster and is in development in Unreal Engine 5. “We are now taking these amazing foundations and adding more emotional depth, an enhanced look, and a completely new soundscape that a game with such a strong legacy deserves,” says Neil McEwan, the creative director at Ballistic Moon.

New and improved animations enhance the original performances. Characters, environments, and VFX are upgraded to tie into a cinematic horror experience.

“We use a broader cinematic tonal colour palette and new perspectives to make the story more nuanced and emotional. We’ve been brave enough to shine a light into the dark, unseen corners of Blackwood Mountain and added a third-person camera, which means you can now look behind the curtain of the original game, exploring enhanced and new locations with new interactions and collectables,” continues McEwan.

A new third-person camera means you can see contextual character movement animations and experience the story in a new way.

Sound has also received an upgrade with a new score from Mark Korven.

The main narrative is intact, but the team at Ballistic expanded on emotional beats.

More news on the Until Dawn remaster is coming later this year. A film is in development with David F. Sandberg directing.
