Until Dawn Movie Adaptation Announced

David F. Sandberg to direct.

The Hollywood Reporter says the next PlayStation series to hit the big screen is none other than Supermassive Games’ horror series, Until Dawn.

Until Dawn heads to the big screen

Shazam! director David F. Sandberg is attached to helm the project with Gary Dauberman “doing a pass on the script” and is known for It, Annabelle, and The Nun. Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions produce the film.

Until Dawn centres around a group of eight young adults who decide to spend a night at the remote Blackwood Mountain lodge a year after a traumatic event resulted in the disappearance of two of their friends.

Featuring multiple branching paths and endings and providing high replayability—players’ choices and success or failure in quick-time events influence the overall outcome. The game allows for a wide range of possible scenarios, from everyone surviving to various combinations of characters meeting their demise.

Until Dawn featured a recognizable cast in 2015 with Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, Jordan Fisher, Nicole Bloom, Peter Stormare, and Brett Dalton.

Sandberg is no stranger to horror, as he directed Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation before moving onto the superhero genre.

PlayStation Production has several projects in the works, with several projects already out, including last year’s Gran Turismo movie, The Last of Us, for HBO and Peacock’s Twisted Metal show.
