Hot off the heels of Sony announcing PlayStation Productions, Sony also confirmed that they are developing a TV series based on the classic Twisted Metal games in an investor presentation today.
Tony Vinciquerra, Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO, was on stage when the reveal was announced. “We have a TV show we just agreed to get underway that will be developed from the IP on PlayStation, it’s called Twisted Metal.” Other than that small blip from the chairman, we have nothing else to go on except that development is already underway for the car battle series that began on the original PlayStation console.
Vinciquerra also mentioned that the Uncharted film was still in the works and that it is in “advanced development,” with Dan Trachtenberg attached as the director. As Shawn Layden mentioned yesterday, during the PlayStation Productions reveal, the studio isn’t tied down by any deadlines or restrictions. This allows them to work at their own pace and not rush any films to market without ensuring their level of quality is met.
