Twisted Metal Series Shows off a Quick Look of What’s Under the Hood in Teaser Trailer

Blink and you'll miss Sweet Tooth

The Last of Us isn’t the only PlayStation-adapted series were getting this year, a first look of Twisted Metal was released today with a quick one-minute teaser trailer of the upcoming Peacock series starring Anthony Mackie.

In the live-action adaption of the vehicular combat franchise, we see Anthony Mackie’s character of John Doe getting his engine revved up and his ammunition loaded for what’s about to go down. Before that, Doe picks out what tunes he’s going to jam to while choosing from a book of CDs before ultimately deciding to put ‘Road Max’ into his car’s CD player and driving off just before breaking the fourth wall by looking to the camera and saying “Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines,”

We get a quick full shot of John Doe’s car while shooting the massive guns plastered on his vehicle to tell you he’s ready for what’s coming. The music cuts and before transitioning to another location, creepy nursery rhyme music can be heard as we see Twisted Metal‘s iconic ice cream truck – you know where this is going – as we get our first look at Sweet Tooth in full live-action glory.

Twisted Metal was first announced back in 2021, the first season will be 10 episodes in total with each one being around 30 minutes or so and is set to start streaming on Peacock exclusively in the US on July 27th. The series is part of PlayStation’s endeavour to bring their iconic franchise to the big and small screens with upcoming adaptions including Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn, Gran Turismo, and God of War.

“[Twisted Metal is] about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck,” the show’s official description
