Toronto Comic Con kicks off it’s 3 day stint downtown today. The con offers everything from celebrity encounters to and enormous marketplace and retail area to spend all your money in.
This weekend big stars from TV and Movies will be invading the city such as Sean Pertwee (Alfred Pennyworth) and David Masouz (Bruce Wayne) from the hit DC comics show, Gotham, as well as Brett Dalton of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Until Dawn fame, Ray Park (Darth Maul), and even a Degrassi reunion with Pat Mastroianni, Stefan Brogren, Dan Woods, Stacie Mistysyn, and Kirsten Bourne. Wrestling fans can meet big stars such as Mick Foley and Bret Hart!
If celebrities aren’t your thing there are tons of artists, some indie and some from big publishers such as Marvel and DC for you to meet. Get your comics signed, pick up a couple prints, commission an art piece, or simply just watch some draw. If art and comics is your thing then Artist Alley will be perfect for you.
Additionally there are a bunch of panels and Q&As featuring your favorite actor, actress, content creator etc. The schedule for that can be found here. Listen to your favorite celeb speak for an hour, sit in on a sketch battle (the audience suggests a topic and 2+ artists draw it out and see who draws it the best), cosplay panels, and many more.
On top of all of that, there is a giant retail floor where you can find (probably) literally anything. Swords, toys, comics, movies, posters, etc, there’s so much.
Lastly, fans of video games might want to check out the ‘MIRAGEVR’ booth that is outside the main hall in the hallway. MIRAGEVR offers a free movement, full body, multiplayer VR experience that is easy, accessible, and affordable. It looks like a lot of fun and I can’t wait to check it out over the weekend.
