Revealed during today’s Limited Run Games showcase, PlayStation platformer Tomba is coming to modern platforms.
Director Tokuro Fujiwara works with Limited Run Games on modern ports alongside composer Fujita Harumi who returns with new music.
Tomba is a PlayStation game that was released in 1997. Developed by Whoopee Camp and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Tomba is an action-adventure platformer that follows the adventures of a pink-haired, wild boy named Tomba.
The game occurs in a vibrant and colourful world of various creatures and environments. Tomba’s main objective is to rescue his grandfather, who has been captured by the Evil Pigs, causing havoc. To accomplish this, Tomba embarks on a quest that spans different regions, each with unique challenges and puzzles.
The series always felt niche, as even back then, I don’t remember anyone talking about Tomba. However, I still have my original copy tucked away with all my PlayStation games alongside its sequel.
Limited Run Games did not announce a release date but confirmed Tomba would be using the Carbon Engine. It’s coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Steam.
