YouTuber Madmorda is on to something. Her channel is loaded with some really neat videos showcasing her modifications done to various Nintendo consoles and controllers. It’s nice to see fans stepping up when you know the demand for these older consoles, especially now that we’re still waiting on a Nintendo 64 mini and GameCube mini. This is the next best thing!
Last month, Madmorda unveiled her latest project, the GameCube Classic – a console that is a fraction of the size of the regular one and fully functional! The Classic runs off a repurposed motherboard from a Nintendo Wii and features four 3.5mm headphone jacks for connecting GameCube controllers, as well as a USB Type-A port to support the Wii U’s GameCube adapter. It runs off a single micro-USB port in the back, so it is portable as well as a 3.5mm jack in the back for video output. She even replaced memory card slots with working USB ports. Madmorda included a fan, power button and indicator as well.
That’s not all though as later on we see her working on a fully-functional controller made from a novelty keychain. We see her play Super Mario Sunshine with it but likely this would not be a good fit for more intense games like Super Smash Bros. Melee. None the less, it is impressive.
Seeing this in action and knowing how much I want this leaves me wishing if Nintendo will release more of their classic consoles.
