The Witcher Series Sales Hit 75 Million, The Witcher 3 Sales Crush 50 Million

CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher series has hit an incredible milestone as the series continues to break sales records for the studio. In today’s latest update, CD Projekt Red reveals that the newest game in the series,  The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, has sold over 50 million units.

The WitcherThe Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has sold around 75 million units. Comparably, Geralt’s latest adventure is a stone’s throw away from Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, whose sales figures have sold around 53 million units respectively, as of this post, given the Netflix series is heading into a third season in June. The fourth and fifth seasons are already confirmed; the Witcher series will continue to sell copies if there is a demand. Late last year, CD Projekt Red released the current-gen ports of Wild Hunt. It confirmed many new projects in-universe are in the works, including a new mainline game called Polaris, a multiplayer game called Sirius, and Canis Majoris, a separate Witcher title.

CD Projekt Red faltered with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, a game that left a bad taste when it launched, but has since gone on to come into its own despite still not living up to the potential the studio showcased in the build-up to launch. The publisher confirmed we’d hear more about the next expansion: Phantom Liberty, at Summer Game Fest in June.
