The first post-Kiryu Yakuza title starring Ichiban Kasuga will be revealed on July 10, when Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega are planning on revealing Shin Ryū ga Gotoku.
At a launch event for Yakuza 5 in Taipei, Gamebase spoke to Daisuke Sato, a producer on the Yakuza series. Sato was asked whether or not Kiryu may ever appear in a future Yakuza entry, now that his story is over and concluded with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.
“At this time, that is not a question I can answer,” said Sato on the subject, “On July 10, we will announce the supporting actress for the new title, as well as share the latest information on the new title, so please look forward to it.”
According to Gematsu, this actress being referred to is one cast via an open audition earlier this year.
I’m curious to see how the studio plans on evolving the series with the new Dragon Engine powering Judgement, as well as Yakuza 6 and Yakuza: Kiwami 2. I’m expecting similar gameplay to previous entries, and I hope we get more minigames as well as all the fun activities hidden through the city of Kamurocho.
Shin Ryū ga Gotoku is currently in development.
