Revealed during Summer Game Fest, The Mermaid Mask from SFB Games (Snipperclips, Crow Country) launches next month.
The Mermaid Mask is more of a follow-up to its 2019 award-winning murder mystery title, Tangle Tower, and the latest entry in its much-loved Detective Grimoire series, which looks to balance the game’s heavy themes with light-hearted humour.
The game’s lineup includes the talents of Edwyn Tiong (Loco Motive, Harold Halibut, and Unavowed) as Detective Grimoire himself and Amber Lee Connors (Jujustsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, Dandadan, and The Outer Worlds 2) as his sidekick, Sally.
The cast is rounded out with Tara Langella (Hades 2, The Outer Worlds 2), David Menkin (Pragmata, Still Wakes the Deep), Steven Kearney (SimCity), Justine Leah Hince (Killer Kiss, UnOrdinary), Anairis Quiñones (Re: Zero – Starting Life in Another World, Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie), Eric Morgan Stuart (Life is Strange, Batman: Caped Crusader), Jacqui Bardelang (Metaphor: ReFantazio, Baldur’s Gate 3), Christy Meyer (Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Dead Island 2) and Alex Bankier (Cat’s Eye, Code Geass: Dakkan no Z).
The body of Captain Magnus Mortuga has been discovered in his submarine in an abandoned fishing town. The twist is that his body was discovered alone in a locked room with a fatal wound, but no murder weapon was found. Oh, but there is an ancient cauldron with its metal lid, shown to have been recently opened and found empty, with some scratches inside.
Detective Grimoire and his partner, Sally, have been summoned by Captain Seafoam to learn the truth. However, there’s very little to go on except a cryptic letter and two photos.
The Mermaid Mask launches July 16, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
