After teasing a Lego brick figure of Mario yesterday, the official reveal of a Super Mario Bros play experience has been revealed.
I was a bit confused about the description of just what this new collaboration. I do like this isn’t just a regular collaboration but a new take on a familiar property. By making the playset much more interactive, the Lego collection brings to life the world of Super Mario.
“We are very excited to bring Mario into the physical world through interactive and social LEGO play”, said Julia Goldin, Chief Marketing Officer, EVP of the LEGO Group. “With this experience, we will help millions of kids with love for Mario to engage and play in a completely new way, where they are in control of creating and playing games with their favourite character. By seamlessly incorporating the latest digital technology, LEGO Super Mario is a highly social, interactive and collaborative experience for kids.”
After watching the video and seeing what Lego is planning, I’m hoping to purchase one to play with my niece and nephew. Seeing Mario’s face react is a treat and I like how Lego built Mario’s actions into the figure.
From what we know, your goal is to collect coins as you move throughout the levels you build. It’s basically a real-life Super Mario Maker 2.
There is no release date at this time but it is expected to launch later this year.
