With Steam Next Fest next month, publisher THQ Nordic and developer Weappy have announced that its upcoming platformer, The Eternal Life of Goldman, will release an extended Steam demo as part of the February event’s line-up, which will feature the beginning of the game and can be played up to the first 90 minutes.
The Eternal Life of Goldman is described as a vibrant yet dark adventure that’s inspired by ancient fables and is set in the Archipelago, where players wil find themselves in as they look to kill a deity. Visually, the game is quite striking as the developer has made an outstanding effort is “meticulously drawn, colored and animated by hand using classic frame-by-frame techniques,” making it feel like a true labour of love that doesn’t look to cut any corners.
“Remember how, when you were a child, you first saw your first 16-bit platformer and couldn’t believe your eyes? We want you to experience those feelings again—or maybe for the first time,” an overview of the game writes.
As far as the game’s narrative, developer Weappy says its game will features complex scenes, robust characters and a multi-layered story that tries not to get players ” bogged down in thoughtful poses and feigned pretension” as they look to create an adventure that takes your breath away and breaks your heart. Steam Next Fest: February Edition for 2026 is set to kick off on February 23rd and will run all the way until March 2nd which feature downloadable free demos of unreleased game across ever genre.
The Eternal Life of Goldman is looking to release in 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
