The Embracer Group Purchases 13 Studios

Embracer Group, the parent company behind THQ Nordic has been decidedly purchasing studios over the last year. Most recently, just before Christmas last year, Embracer announced the purchase of Tarsier Studio, the development team working on Little Nightmares 2. In early February, they went on to purchase Saber Interactive, a studio with more than 600 employees and the studio behind World War Z.

And today, a whole trove of new studios can now say they are part of the Embracer Group with 13 studios being purchased. The full list of acquisitions includes Flying Wild Hog, Silent Games, Coffee Stain North, Quantic Lab, IUGO Mobile, Purple Lamp Studios, Sandbox Strategies, Mad Head Games, 34BigThings, Nimble Giant Entertainment, Snapshot Games, Zen Studios, and A Thinking Ape Entertainment.

While the list is massive by any means, the parent company wasn’t the one who purchased all 13 studios. Instead, subsidiaries helped facilitate those purchases, including Koch Media, Saber, Interactive, THQ Nordic, Deca Games, and Amplifier Game Invest.

Per Gamasutra, the biggest purchases include Flying Wild Hogs and Zen Studios, with the former being acquired for $135.2 million.
