The Canadian Game Awards are announcing a pretty big get for this year’s Awards Show: Commander Shepard of Canadian-made sci-fi RPG series Mass Effect.
Well…okay, Commander Shepard is apparently still partying in up on The Citadel, but voice actors Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale — who voiced male Shepard and female Shepard — will take the stage as hosts for the sixth edition of the Canadian Game Awards Show and Gala.
This year, the biggest night in Canadian gaming is on Thursday, May 21, at the John Bassett Theatre in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in downtown Toronto.
“Having both Mark and Jennifer together on our stage is amazing for the CGAs,” says Carl-Edwin Michel, founder of the Canadian Game Awards. “Their contribution to the medium is immeasurable, and as we celebrate our sixth year, having the ‘Commanders’ at the helm perfectly reflects the calibre of talent we have right here in Canada.”
“I’m Commander Shepard, And The Canadian Game Awards are my favourite game awards on the Citadel,” said Commander Shepard.
This is yet another big win for 2026’s Awards Show, which is now partnered with the yearly XP Game Summit Trade Show.
