Square Enix has revealed in a press release more details on The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. We learned last month about the Age of Reconstruction, one of the game’s past eras that players as the titular Elliot will time travel to. Now we have more information on a new setting and characters that we’ll meet along the way as we travel even further back into the past.
Going from the Dark Ages, players in Square Enix’s upcoming action RPG spin on Octopath Traveller’s HD-2D art style will travel through the Doorway of Time to the Golden Age of Magic as Elliot and his fairy companion, Faie travel to Weyzn, a nation that is described as wholly dependent on magic and humanity at its height of prosperity. The sight is quite otherworldly compared to Elliot’s beastmen-filled home in the post-apocalyptic future, with the city’s magnificent buildings being such a marvel to look at.

In The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, two magical research institutions, Forthewor and Formanit, prop up Weyzn’s society and has helped drive the beastmen away. Forthewor’s goal is by any means finds new ways to advance technology, while Formanit looks to enrich people’s lives; two sides of the same coin. The story of Weyzn focuses on a cast of characters at both these research institutes that Elliot will run into on his journey, and now let’s meet some of them right now.
Fausta (Played by Elizabeth Maxwell in English and Sayaka Oohara in Japanese)

Formerly of Forthewor, this erudite researcher went independent to form and head the Formanit Institute. Her earnest and rigorous approach to research has earned her the profound trust of her employees.
Marnie (Played by Suzie Yeung in English and Sayumi Suzushiro in Japanese)

A researcher at the Formanit Institute. She is an expert in magic technology, particularly in the field of mechanical engineering, and carries out field tests of the magical organisms known as thaumata. Marnie looks up to Director Fausta and devotes herself wholly to the institute’s principle of magic research to make people happy.
Hildebrandt (Played by Christopher Smith in English and Show Hayami in Japanese)

Director of the Forthewor Institute. A realist who prioritizes results, the numerous fruits of his outstanding research skills saw him appointed as director at a young age. He is regarded highly by the populace of Weyzn for his breakthroughs in magic development.
Ikarus (Played by Chris Okawa in English and Yuuya Uchida in Japanese)

Head of Weyzn’s nobility. Stern and serious, he spares no effort in fulfilling his responsibility of governing Weyzn. Due to his concerns about Forthewor’s reckless pursuit of progress, he has formed a cooperative relationship with Fausta, to whom he turns for advice.
Now that’s not all, Square Enix has revealed more information on The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales’ mechanics and systems that players can dive into when they get their hands on The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. Elliot can wield seven weapon types in combat. Players can find more powerful variants in caves and ruins throughout each of the ages, which deal even more basic and special attacks. Better yet, having a stronger weapon means you get more out of it by enhancing it through combining with other weapons.

Shops in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales can form magicite, magical fragments found from enemy drops or by looting chests. Elliot can then apply these fragments to his weapons to give them some fun effects in combat. Players who put more magicite into forming these weapon effects will earn an even rarer version that boasts greater effects. Looking to equip a powerful magicite comes at a greater cost, but the rarer it is, the more that cost goes down, so forming them in early game is something to think about for more strategic players.
During the journey in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, players will discover new fairy magic for Faie, which players can acquire through the game’s magic lesson mini-games. Achieving a high score in these mini-games will earn players new records, accessible within the in-game soundtrack menu. The magic lessons mini-games players can go through include sprint racing through a snowy slope while racking up points and another is warp that sees you teleport to other platforms in a lava biome before they sink into the molten earth.
