Initially revealed in 2020, Nacon and KT Racing have again confirmed Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is delayed, moving away from its 2023 release to next year.
A 30-minute gameplay demo shown today gives us our first look at the recreation of Hong Kong Island, seemingly a 1:1 recreation. Additionally, Ubisoft’s The Crew elements have made their way to Test Drive Unlimted Solar Crow.
On stage today were Alain Jarniou, Creative Director at KT Racing; Camille Courtier, Associate Producer; and Guillaume Guinet, Lead Game Designer, joined by several influences to showcase gameplay.
Throughout the 30-minute session, we saw what players can expect next year, including the ability to meet up in-game, use the integrated voice chat, and join missions and races.
The 1:1 recreation of Hong Kong Island began at the Solar Hotel, built on-site in Victoria Park within Causeway Bay. The Solar Hotel has 120 floors, a 540-metre-high architectural marvel with a unique and futuristic design. Serving as the social hub for players, you can meet other players in the lobby to chat or hang out, play games, and more.
We also got our first look at the Sharps and the Streets headquarters, two factions you’ll meet in-game. Each location reflects the clans’ lifestyles — with the Streets taking over a former club as their base while the Sharps work out of a revitalized hotel within a luxury hotel.
A closed beta has been revealed that begins on July 24; you’ll need to head over to the game’s website.
Test Drive Unlimted Solar Crown launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC next year. A Switch port has been mentioned but not in recent months.
