Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Delayed to 2023

Publisher Nacon and developer KT Racing have announced Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown has been delayed to next year. The move comes as the official Twitter account reveals the reasoning behind the delay and where the project is.

The initial launch date was set for this September. In a blog post, KT Racing reveals the delay around Solar Crown was to “make it the most polished gaming experience in the franchise by spending more time on its development. ”

According to the same blog post, the team working on the project is aiming at producing environments at a 1:1 scale featuring fully recreated cars, a realistic driving experience, and social interactions.

Test Drive Unlimited is more than just a racing game, but rather a game about the joy of driving your car, the car that reflects your style and the one you have chosen over all the others. Buying a car from a dealership, listening to the radio while driving, putting the top down when the rain stops, using the turn signals properly, and even simply opening the window are all details that millions of players have fallen in love with.”

Solar Crown is set on Hong Kong Island, a place where luxury cars have led to clans: the Streets and the Sharps.

With each clan wanting to leave its mark on the city, players will pick a side and help influence the inhabitants. Each clan has an HQ to gather and celebrate, find new missions, and grow as a racer.

Nacon also confirms that Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown will be hosting closed beta tests in the future. Furthermore, last-gen versions of the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have been cancelled.
