One of my favourite gaming experiences was playing Tales of Symphoniaon GameCube in 2004. I was off for the summer, I had no responsibilities, and I had all the time in the world. So I spent my paycheque from working at a grocery store on Namco’s long-running RPG series.
I can remember many of the standout moments from my adventures with Llyod and his party. Those moments in Flanoir, the Snowy City were some of my favourite interactions with the world of Tethe’alla.
Tales of Symphonia Remastered is set in the world of Sylvarant, a dying land in dire need of a constant source of mana, where legend dictates that a Chosen One will appear to regenerate and restore the world. Players will follow the adventures of Lloyd Irving and his friends as they embark on a worldwide adventure filled with unforgettable characters and an emotionally charged storyline that still resonates with fans.
It is a bit disappointing Bandai Namco is foregoing 60 FPS with this release which is weird given the GameCube version ran at that framerate. Even more curious is the lack of Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World being included as it is a direct sequel set several years later.
Tales of Symphonia Remastered launches on February 17, 2023.
