Supermassive Games Announces The Quarry

After teasing a new project yesterday, Supermassive Games and 2K Games have revealed The Quarry, a new, original game set to launch this summer.

The Quarry stars several familiar faces including David Arquette, Ariel Winter, Justice Smith, Brenda Song, Lance Henriksen, Lin Shaye, and more. In an all-new teen horror game, every choice you make will shape the story and determine who survives at the end.

I’m getting some pretty big Until Dawn vibes from what we’ve seen and while I have enjoyed the Dark Pictures Anthology, it has paled in comparison.

The Quarry is breaking new ground across interactive storytelling and technology to create a truly visceral teen-horror experience,” said Supermassive Games director Will Byles. “I can’t wait to see the choices you make, who you’ll save, and who you’re willing to sacrifice!”

Supermassive Games is using facial capture and several lighting techniques to bring the Hollywood ensemble to life. Just like Until Dawn, the cast was a big reason I enjoyed the experience. Justice Smith was great casting for Detective Pikachu and Jurassic World.

“As an interactive narrative experience, The Quarry is a completely different type of game from anything 2K has published in the past. We are partnering because Supermassive Games are simply the best at what they do, and we’re huge fans of the studio,” said 2K president David Ismailer. “The chance to work with one of the great creative minds in our industry doesn’t come often, and we are excited to be on this journey together with The Quarry.”

From the description, nine teenage counsellors at Hackett’s Quarry decide to throw a party with no adults, kids, or rules. What happens when things take a turn for the worst? Well, the locals decide to hunt you and things become far more sinister.

The Quarry launches June 10, 2022.
