Revealed at Day of the Devs, Playtonic‘s next game isn’t a platformer but a kart racer! Super Yooka-Laylee Kart is the studio’s take on arcade racing.
Super Yooka-Laylee Kart includes a solo campaign, online multiplayer, and custom races with a custom ruleset. Playtonic says its game is a precision-based arcade racer where you can combine advanced techniques, tactical weapons, and high skill ceilings, along with a Rage system that rewards tactical comebacks.
Playtonic says the game was designed around mastery, replayability, and expression, as Super Yooka-Laylee Kart expands on the kart racing foundations with modern depth and advanced movement, rewarding risk with reward. There’s also extensive multiplayer customization with tons of gameplay modifiers and tournaments.
Super Yooka-Laylee Kart has a story campaign with plenty to do, including tournaments, time trials, endurance races, skill-based challenges, and more. You can collect coins during races to unlock perks that let you maintain top speed, or risks that give you a leg up later in the tournament.
Several betas will be held to test online features that allow players to help shape the game’s competitive experience.
