During today’s Nintendo Direct, a massive bombshell was dropped early in the livestream. A remake of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is in the works and will arrive this November.
Nintendo’s iconic and legendary game was a collaboration with Squaresoft, combining the world of Super Mario with the gameplay elements found in Final Fantasy. Nearly 30 years and, the internet consistently questioned when and where a remake would happen. Today, Nintendo made this dream come true for many fans as a remake is launching later this year with updated graphics and cinematics.
The story begins when the Mushroom Kingdom is invaded by the Smithy Gang, led by the villainous Smithy. They steal the seven Star Pieces from Star Road, responsible for granting wishes. Wishes can’t be granted without the Star Pieces, and chaos ensues.
Mario and his friends, including Princess Peach, Bowser, and various new allies, embark on a quest to retrieve the Star Pieces and save the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario and his companions travel through different locations throughout the game, battling enemies and solving puzzles.
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is celebrated for its engaging story, charming characters, and clever blend of platforming and RPG mechanics. It is widely regarded as one of the most beloved games in the Mario franchise and a landmark title in the realm of RPGs.
Super Mario RPG will launch on the Nintendo Switch on November 17, 2023.
