Sunsoft Returns To Announce New Games Next Week

Sunsoft, a subsidiary of Sun Corporation, is back and is set to announce several new titles next week. The publisher has been around since 1978 as part of a push into video games by parent company Sun Corporation, an electronics company in Japan.

The publishing arm of Sun Corporation is known for publishing several licensed products including Batman, The Addam Family, Fantasy Zone, Blaster Master, and Taz-Mania. Later on, Sun Sort would go on to work on titles on Super Nintendo including Aero the Acro-Bat.

“Although we have been quiet for some time, many things have been happening behind the scenes,” said Yuichi Ochi, general manager of Sunsoft. “We are very excited to be able to finally share our vision for the rebirth of Sunsoft with fans old and new.”

Sunsoft went into bankruptcy in 1995, citing “high overhead production costs” as a factor. Later on, Sunsoft shuttered its offices in America and Europe but returned to Japan as a developer and publisher focusing on pachinko and mahjong games in addition to mobile games.

Now, it seems like Sunsoft is back hosting the Sunsoft digital event that is set to take place on Thursday, August 18 at 4 PM ET. You can tune in on the official Sunsoft YouTube channel.
