Summer Game Fest

Summer Game Fest 2022 Set for June 9, To Air in Select IMAX Theatres

While E3 2022 may not be happening this year, but the 2022 edition of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest may fill in that void as the Game Awards host has revealed that the summer “live cross-industry showcase” is set to take place on June 9th at 2 PM ET and will be streaming in “select IMAX theatres.”

As for what will be showcased at the event, Keighley didn’t spill any spoilers but promised video game fans to expect “reveals, surprises, and announcements” which is honestly just the same thing said three different ways if you really think about it but understandable he’s hyping up his event so power to him. The IMAX Theatres announcement isn’t just limited to just Summer Game Fest 2022 but for this year’s Game Awards happening this December.

The interesting thing is Summer Game Fest is happening three days before Microsoft’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase on June 12th. It’s very possible that Xbox Games Studios might not have much of a presence on the showcase to save for their own presentation but it’s possible that Xbox might just do the opposite. The show might be more focused on third-party and indie games with a possible PlayStation presence during the presentation. As for Nintendo, they are a wild card and probably going to do its own thing and announce a Nintendo Direct during the week that E3 normally takes place historically.
