Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Reportedly Delayed, Slated To Release Later This Year

Following its showcase during the most recent State of Play presentation

It doesn’t feel that long ago that we got a new look at Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League but the 2023 game has apparently been delayed again and is now set to release sometime later this year, according to a Bloomberg report through an anonymous source with knowledge close to the situation. No official word of the game’s delay has been announced by Warner Bros, Discovery as of yet

The news comes after the game had a meaty showcase during PlayStation’s most recent State of Play presentation which wasn’t received that well by fans who tuned in. On the bright side of the delay, if true the news does take some pressure off of launching in a busy month within the launch dates of anticipated titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Streets Fighter 6, and Diablo IV.

If the game is still aiming to release this year then the delay is probably to give the game’s developer, Rocksteady more time to polish up the game more. It’s pretty unlikely that the extra development time would be enough time to completely overhaul the gameplay and remove aspects of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s core Game as a Service system that would take more time.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is described in marketing as a “genre-bending action-adventure shooter”  set in Rocksteady’s Batman Arkhamverse but this time around from the much brighter setting of Metropolis. Players will be able to explore the game’s open world in other solo or up to four-player co-op from the perspective of Suicide Squad members – Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark. The game was originally announced at DC Fandom in 2020 aiming to release in 2022 which never ended up happening and was later delayed to spring 2023 which we would get another look at last year’s The Game Awards featuring Kevin Conroy’s voice.
