Unknown Worlds is committed to going deeper with their work on Subnautica 2.
After its release into Early Access last month, players began to praise the survival title, which managed to suffer through not drowning in a wave of development hell, for taking the thoughts of the first game and refining.
In an eighth update from Unknown Worlds, the team first thanks the 4 million people who have purchased the game to date. And then, they turn to outlining hotfixes they are making based on feedback from early players and previewers.
These include increased resource deposits and changes to predator attack frequency and damage — aimed at improving the overall exploration and survival experience. These changes are already in the game, but there are many more on the way that you’ve been asking for, such as improvements to the Biomods system that will expand passive slots and introduce new options designed to diversify early-game survival strategies.
Proximity voice chat, emotes, and additional character customization features are currently in development.
Looking further ahead, there are plans for a major upcoming content update that will introduce a new vehicle and open a new region inhabited by the massive “Collector Leviathan.”
“The feedback and voices of our players continue to shape the direction of Subnautica 2,” said Fernando Melo, executive producer of Subnautica 2 in a press release about today’s update. “Within the first week following launch, the team released two hotfixes to quickly respond to community feedback. We’ll continue prioritizing player input throughout Early Access as we expand the depth and scope of the experience through future updates.”
Subnautica 2 is currently swimming through Early Access on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and home consoles via Xbox Series X|S.
