Stranger Than Heaven

Stranger Than Heaven Takes Us Through Five Eras of Japan

SEGA of America sure knows how to deliver a divine trailer. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s patented old Japan charms shine in an ultra-violent look into Stranger Than Heaven — a forthcoming brawler set in five different eras in five different fictionalized cities with vast inspiration from real districts in those cities — as Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio does so well!

While we can’t be exactly sure what cities we will be visiting, aside from what is very clearly Sotenbori, based off of Osaka’s downtown Dotonbori district, oh, and I think studio mainstay Kamurocho, we now know the eras we will be visiting to be 1915, 1929, 1943, 1951, and 1965.

We also now know that we will be getting a special standalone deep dive from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio in partnership with Xbox, airing on May 6, 2026, at 7 p.m. ET.

Stranger Than Heaven will be available with Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, Steam, and PlayStation 5.
