A new project from Canadian developer SkyBox Labs is on its way. Stela, a game described as a cinematic platformer about a woman witnessing the final days of a mysterious world, is coming this year and it looks great.
SkyBox Labs are co-developing another big game for Xbox – Halo Infinite, but their other project is as exciting after watching the trailer. Stela will make its debut at GDC 2019 as an official selection in Microsoft’s [email protected] Developer Showcase.
“Overcome daunting challenges, treacherous terrain, and gargantuan beasts while traversing a decaying land. Manipulate the environment to solve elaborate puzzles and creep past dangers under cover of muted landscapes, all set to an original soundtrack. Survive sweeping environments including mysterious towns, haunting forests, and massive subterranean ruins brought to life in an atmospheric experience.”
Watching the trailer gives me an Inside vibe from developer Playdead.
“Our focus was to create beautiful 3D atmospheres with depth and scale while remaining as true to the cinematic platformer genre as possible,” said Shyang Kong, Co-Founder, SkyBox Labs.”
From what I see this is exactly what’s happening and I’m eager to see how this turns out.
