One of the biggest questions for me going into 2026 was how much will the Steam Machine cost, and it felt like Valve was trying to delay the announcement of the price of its Linux desktop gaming device as much as possible. That is until now, as the company has revealed the price of the Steam Machine and in Canada will cost $1,509 CAD for the 512GB model and $1,919 for the 2TB model, according to a press release.
For those looking to pick up the Steam Machine, there are actually four options to choose from, with one other option for both storage options that comes with Valve’s recently released Steam Controller plus extra red and solid walnut faceplates. The 512GB Steam Machine with a Steam Controller bundle will cost $1,628 CAD while its 2TB counterpart crosses the $2,000 threshold at $2,038 CAD. If you look at the price, those picking up the bundle will get a discount on the Steam controller, which currently costs $150 CAD on its own and would cost $119 as part of the bundle, savings of $31; better than nothing I guess.
I remembered ordering the original Steam Deck in 2022 and it was kind of a hectic day with a lot of refreshes to order one, but was lucky at the draw to get the handheld in my cart and submit my order. This time around for the Steam Machine is looking to make the process to order the device a bit easier, but funnily enough, luck still plays a role.
Those that sign up on the Steam Machine’s product page for either one of the four Steam Machine option before June 25th at 1 p.m. EST. When Closes closes the sign ups, everyone who signed up will get picked at random to get the right to be added to the reservation queue which you’ll get an email that you were selected and have been added to the reservation queue. Those who didn’t will be notified that they have been added to the reservation queue waitlist for the next batch of Steam Machine devices. The first batch of Steam Machines to be sent out next week, on June 29th.
