Star Ocean The Divine Force Launches In October

Square Enix delivered a new Mission Report for Star Ocean The Divine Force, which is now confirmed to be launching in October.

We’ve known since the initial reveal that players would have a level of mobility the series has never seen before. Today, we see how players will move around the map — a robotic partner named D.U.M.A latches onto Raymond and Laeticia’s back giving them the freedom to speedily move across Aster IV.

tri-Ace has worked on the series since its inception and continues to work with Square Enix on Star Ocean. In today’s set of videos, we get a pretty good look at the battle system, which I’m not sure looks better than Star Ocean Integrity and Faithlessness. In battles, there is no longer an MP mechanic instead, all actions now come from an AP (Action Points) pool for attacks and magic.

There’s also a Stop Mode where you are able to slow the flow of combat and take your time to think over strategies.

In Japan, Star Ocean The Divine Force will be available physically and digitally on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. There is also a limited edition including a keychain, soundtrack sampler, and in-game items.

The one thing that stood out is the pawns, an accessory that can be used in-game and features other tri-Ace properties for the minigame Soar shown in-game. Those pawns are Lenneth and Lezard Valeth from Valkyrie Profile, and Jack Russell and Ridley Silverlake from Radiata Stories.

Star Ocean The Divine Force launches on October 27, 2022.
